When should your Brake Pads and Discs be Replaced?

It all depends on how many miles you drive annually. Generally, you should change your brake pads every 25,000 to 65,000 miles (3 to 5 years). Your brake discs should be replaced anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 (3 to 7 years) miles. We also stock brake pad wear sensors and indicators so you can tell when it's time to get them replaced.

How do I know if my brake pads and discs are worn?

There are several signs that you should check to tell if your brake discs and pads need replacing. Sometimes it’s just as simple as bleeding the brakes to make them more responsive.

Brake problems you should listen and look out for:

• Your brakes aren't as responsive
• A grinding noise from your wheels when you brake 
• Brakes squeaking when engaged
• Your vehicle pulling to the left or right
• Driving vibrations
• Fluid leaks on the inside of the wheels
• Brakes warning light illuminated

If you experience any of these signs in your braking system or when you brake it's important that you check your brakes immediately. Get them replaced if you’re unsure.

How Much do Brake Pads and Discs Cost?

The braking system is probably the most important part of your vehicle to keep serviced and maintained. Pricing varies on discs and brake pads from brand to brand, averaging £200 upwards for each for front and rear brakes. It starts from £200+ to replace front brake discs and pads and £250+ for back disc brakes and pads, depending on your make and model.
