What is a Camshaft?

A camshaft sits at the engine's top end and is a vital component of your car's valve train, which allows air and fuel to enter the combustion chamber. Modern engines can have up to four camshafts (dual cams) with four valves per cylinder. The camshaft usually has egg-shaped cams that open and close the engine valves.
