What is a Timing Belt?

The timing belt (Or cam belt) is required to turn the camshaft at the correct speed in synchronization with the crankshaft to ensure that the valves in the engine cylinders open at the right time. This makes the timing belt an integral part of any internal combustion engine.

When does Timing Belt need to be Replaced?

The camshaft sits at the top and usually uses egg-shaped cams to open and close the valves. The crankshaft at the bottom converts the cranks to rotational motion. They are connected by the timing belt and must work in harmony together. This is called valve timing.
